Uptown Funk Dance, the Teacher and his Students

A groovy teacher in Dallas has his students dancing in the halls.

Scot Pankey, a teacher at high school in Dallas, get his students to dance “Uptown Funk” for their first assignment. The school is a project-based school, which means students are put into groups, given a project to work on and have to come up with solutions within that group.

The theater teacher at A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School in Dallas shows he's got all the right moves in this hilarious video, in which he dances with his students to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars's hit "Uptown Funk."

The video has gone viral, and for good reason. The whole thing was shot in a single take. And they weren't just goofing around – it turns out this was a class project.

"I heard the song before Christmas and fell in love with it," Pankey tells the Dallas Morning News. "We are a project-based school … You give the students a project, put them in teams, and they have to come up with solutions. They had three weeks to work on it, then present as a group what they learned."
